Field Numbers
This window allows for the label of selected fields to be changed, and for the level of history to be held for each of the relevant field numbers.
The following is and example of defining the User Fields window.

Rules and Guidelines
- Once the field number has been selected all it's relevant information is displayed.
- Changes made on this screen are included in the Control File Maintenance Report.
Field Information
This refers to the number that identifies the field.
- Date of Birth field is number 16
- User Date fields are numbered 92 to 98 inclusive
- User Fields are numbered 99 to 109 inclusive
- Data Extension fields are numbered 201 to 299 inclusive
- Talent Review fields are numbered 425 to 438 inclusive
- Field number can not be changed
This is the starting and ending field position numbers in the file.
Example The ID Numbers starts at position 2 and ends at position 7. This indicates that the ID Number field is six characters long. (the positions are inclusive) |
- Position number can not be changed
This is an abbreviated form of the field's description. It is used for technical purposes and cannot be changed.
The full description of the field is used for display and printing purposes.
- This value should not be changed without consultation with the Help Desk.
This is a description of the format of the field.
This refers to the number of years that history is kept for the selected field and only applies when the Extract History field contains a Y.

Identify if the system will require this field to be mandatory.
- If this field is flagged with Y, the User Mandatory field can not be changed.
Identify if this field is mandatory.
- If the System Mandatory field is N, this field can be changed.
This displays the name of the file where this field is held.
